Upgrading to a new SLR

Hi all, I am new to the forum, from Cardiff, and was recommended to join by my friend Hils although I don't know her forum name.
I am going to upgrade to a Nikon something...haven't decided yet, and need loads of help and advice.
I am an artist www.artysand.com and don't feel dressed without a camera in my hand.
I have taken many shots over the years, on film, video and now digital, so to upgrade is very serious, and I don't want to make a mistake.
