Whilst posting in another thread earlier on I inadvertently realised I'd just added to my wish-list and come up with a "sort of" long term plan for the equipment I'd like to end up with.....

So as of now the wish-list/plans read thus....

Just ordered: 2x & 1.4x TC's - Canon

Within the next couple of months: 70-200mm f2.8L IS

Before we go away on Holiday next march: New tripod. Almost certainly a Manfrotto, looking towards the 190 at the moment but need to do more reading. No idea whatsoever about heads so MUCH more reading needed there!

Then (Timescale uncertain!): Ultra-wide angle lens - probably (considering the way the rest of my master-plan is forming!) a Sigma 12-24mm.
Upgrade to the Canon kit lens - either a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 (Not read any reviews on that one yet) or the Canon equivalent if someone can convince me that the image quality is sufficiently greater than the Sigma to justify a whopping amout of extra cash!
"Proper" Macro lens of some description......
Next Winter: The big one.....whatever the current version of the 1DMk2N is - I'm guessing it'll have had an upgrade by that time - probably a 10mp sensor and a bit extra on the price, but that's where I'm aiming. Spot on for me with the excellent burst speed.....and the weather sealing is a major factor with working outside at speedway.....I long to be able to do what the pro chap I work alongside does when it rains and just keep shooting!

There you go then - that's my plan (Seems somehow more real written down!) so come on then - what's yours?

What's on your wishlists folks? Write 'em down, commit to some timescales, and if we remember, in 12 months time, we should dig this thread back up again and see how we're all doing!
 
Hmm, my wish list consists of only one thing, the Canon 24-70 F2.8. Beyond that I can actually see myself selling the 17-40 and maybe even the 100mm macro given the lack of use recently.
 
I'm still quite happy with my D70 for now, but I want a better 70-300mm zoom lens (I have a cheapy Sigma at the mo, and it's pants to say the least :( ). That will be next year at some point though.
I also want a decent lightweight tripod, so I hope Santa is listening :lol:
Oh, and a flashgun.

Other than that, I'm happy with the bits I've got :)

Not too many things on my wish list right now... a tripod (but like Witch I need to learn about heads before I dive in).
Canon 85mm 1.8 (Im not greedy, I wont say the 1.2)
A decent bag to put it in.
..... Oh & a nice rich Italian toy boy to carry it all please! :naughty:

I can sell you one... quite reasonable. :D

When I get the 500L, I'll be pretty well where I want to be with regards to equipment given the sort of stuff I most like doing nowadays.... thankfully.... expensive game! :shrug:
 
My wishlist at the moment:

  • Nikon SB600
  • Decent f/2.8 telephoto lens, possibly 120-300mm
  • Nikon 50mm 1.8
  • Sigma 10-20mm
  • NDx8 Filter
 
Canon 100-400mm and Sigma 300mm F/2.8 to replace my Canon 400mm F/5.6 and Canon 70-300 DO. Probably get Canon 100mm or Sigma 150mm Macro lens too.

I'll have to wait until 2008 for the 600mm F/4!!
 
Currently all ive got on my photography wish list is...

Canon 50f1.2 or Canon 85f1.2
Lowepro Photo-Trekker AWII

Next year I wil consider getting a 1dmkIIn but I really dont need 3 bodies...
 
F100 to replace my F80
filters n' stuff
a second SB-600 or possibly an SB-800
 
mmm...............its a hard because I'm really happy with what I've got, I never thought two years ago I would be posting on this fourm with great photographers and people, and I never thought I would have such good equipment to suit what I like to do. A tripod most needed at the moment to allow me to be more dynamic and a bag that can hold all my equipment that I can put on my back. Love to think I could get a 1DN and a fast prime of some sort :lol: Not a chance! oh ya and finish my degree :)
 
No serious wishlist here...

Only 1 1D Mk II N and 1 5D.........

Oh and a 300mm f/2,8 would be nice too....:thumbs:
 
1) decent monopod
2) Sigma 70-200 f2.8 (don't care if it is new macro or not)
3) new bag to fit new lens!
4) cheapo home studio lights
5) battery pack
6) flashgun
7) set of cokin filters

As I'm new to this photography lark I don't have much yet so while the first 3 are essential the rest can wait I guess.
 
New memory card...my Sandisk died yesterday with a stack of pictures on it :bang: :bang: :bang: I'm sure they were all going to be prize winners too :nuts:
 
I reckon..... that if all you guys spend out and buy all these things on your wishlists.....

For me, a Nikon 70-200 F/2.8G Ed-If AF-S VR 2.8 Lens for starters :D

And a SB600/800...which I should buy first really...nearly did the other day, on a "but I need one right now" impulse. But I got, “Sorry sir no diffusers in stock. Oh, ok bye”. ... 'Last seen running out of shop'.

...found out later that the SB800 comes with a diffuser....ha, I feel so sorry for Jessops.... not.
 
My wish list is simple. The ability to use creatively what I've just purchased. Canon EOS 400D with kit lens. I would like a 70-200 decent quality zoom. What should I look at that doesn't cost the earth?

Winner.... i will swap all my existing gear for that... as has been said, equipment doesnt make a good photo the photographer does... thats unfortunately what lets most of my shots down.

  • A waterproof padded bag (instead of padding everything with carrier bags)
  • A shorter wishlist

I suppose I should have added ability too, but have not seen any stores selling that.

only about 3k's worth, but now I'm young free and relatively single(ish) my expenses seem to have dropped exponentially so I have lots more free cash. strange that one.

at some point i'll probably want to trade my sigma 70-200 f/2.8 for he Canon IS version, not because the sigma is lacking in quality but the IS would come in very handy. I'd also like to add a few more primes which i've found to be great in terms of low light ability, size/weight and image quality :)
