Yes
I'm looking to upgrade my Cokin filters to the Lee ones.

Could someone shed some light on exactly what I need?

I think I'm after the filter ring which will be 77mm.
Lee Foundation Kit
Then the Grad filters comes in soft and hard, which is better?, which do I need?
I be doing mostly sunsets.
Will be looking at the Big Stopper as well.

Hi Ron,

Lee dont make things clear in my opinion. They call it a kit, but all the kit contains is the filter holder.

SO you will need
a filter ring
the foundation kit
filters

For filters i mostly use 0.6 and 0.9 hard and a 0.9 soft. The softs are of no use in longer focal lengths.

PS take a look at the hitch filters also, they are now of a comparable quality to lee imho. I had lee when i had a dslr, and now use hitech.

The filter rings also come in 2 styles - standard and Wide Angle (which are more expensive).

The wide angle versions put the holder closer to the lens, to help reduce the possibility of vignetting when using wide angle lenses.

try here for lee compatible filter holders and rings at a fraction of the price

...and without Lee's guarantee and backup.....it's the proverbial Chinese copy IMHO, personally I'd go with the real thing.

It is just a piece of plastic and if it is too badly made he can just make a claim on ebay. Lee holder is totally overpriced for what it actually is.

I have bought this holder and wide angle filter rings for my lenses which I use with hitech filters and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, quality is very good and the fit to camera is just as good as lee. The rings are not as heavy as the lee and probably not as good quality but the fit just fine too.
