Hi,
I have had my Nikon D60 for a year now and it is still in perfect condition but I am progressing with my photography and I'm finding the D60 doesn't have all of the features i'd like it to.
I was wanting to upgrade to a new body and sell my D60. I'd like to keep my 18-55mm Nikkor VR and 70-300mm VR Nikkor Lenses dependant that they will fit onto the body that I upgrade to!

One of the main features i'd like the new body to have is the ability to capture HD films

I see the the D3 and D700's use the FX format - how much better is this format and is it worth upgrading to?
Looking at the price of them I doubt I would be able to get one anyway!
What is the D300s like - still rather expensive but I might be able to stretch to it if its worth it.
Other suggestions are more than welcome :)

Cheers
Andrew

HD video is available on the D3s and D300s but as yet isn't available on the D700.

The most obvious advantage of FX is the ability to use higher ISOs before noise becomes too much. Obviously they have a wider FOV than DX making them great for landscapes but not as ideal for things like wildlife where you need a lot of reach. FX is also supposed to great for portraits.

It'd help us give more specific advice if you could tell us what specific limitations you're finding with the D60 and what subjects interest you.

Have a look at the D90. It has the HD video capability as well as being so much better than the D60. I know because I have both cameras.

I had the D60 then upgraded to the D90

really glad i did , its a great camera with a few more useful features than the D60

I dont use the movie thing though

I'll second the D90 step up, I made that change and was blown away by the difference. The HD recording is good as well, even though it's manual focus, and you obviously get the luxury of the AF motor inside the body so have a wider choice of lenses.

However, within 8 months of owning the D90, I got a huge lust for full frame and went up again to the D700, the D90 is staying as a back up but if you can afford to go to the D700, think long and hard about it, but be warned that the two lenses you mention won't work on an FX camera apart from in DX mode, which will only give you 5MP.
