Did anyone see the program last night on recycling an old a320 with kevin mclould presenting it?

I found it rather intresting, they made stuff like chairs from wing sections. Some lamps from old seat frames and a garden office out of a section of the body of the aicraft.

It was rather interesting although as a massive aviation nerd it was a little frustrating some of the "facts" that were very wrong :( it was an interesting exercise but it wasn't exactly realistic either but still worth watching

As an engineer/car nut/electronics nerd, I get that feeling of frustration so often when watching TV!

For me the biggest be was the insistence that loads of the aircraft just gets dumped into landfill when the reality is very little of it will end up in landfill as the vast majority is either easily recyclable or has value in being refurbished to the spare parts market...the very reason why some aircraft in recent years have been retired at only about 5-6 years of age when they have first come up to lease renewal as the value of parts separately is greater than the actual aircraft....though the first one that initially wound me up was how there were over 8000 of that particular family of aircraft flying eg A32X when in fact I think it was only last year that the 8000th airbus total was delivered from A300 all the way through to A380 :D as I said I'm a massive aviation nerd
