Hi, Not being particularly techo, I am trying to upload my photo folders "favorites" to the photo section on the i pad. No luck. My best folders are on Picassa but the I pad talks of using I tunes which isnt co operating . . It seems very difficult, I have ordered a camera devise that allows the flash card to go straight onto the pad " I presume"with un edited pics but I was wondering if I was to get a Male/Female usb connector and connect that with a memory stick with my pics loaded, would that work ? would they go straight in ?This thing is a bit disapointing really as getting started on a G3 network isnt easy either. Any help would be very much apprieciated

Hey

Hopefully I've understood your questions right.

The following instructions should help you use itunes to sync photos.

Sync Pictures / Photos to iPad with iTunes
In the iPad management screen, click the "Photos" tab at the top.
Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top.
From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library.
Depending on what program you use, you'll have different options. These may include syncing individual galleries or your entire photo album.
If you're syncing a folder of images, you can navigate through your hard drive to find the correct folder and then sync that entire folder or just select subfolders in it.
Once all your settings are correct, click the "Apply" button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes window to sync again and add photos to your iPad.
Photos will consume space on your iPad, so keep that in mind as you select between syncing all photos and individual albums and videos.

Re the device for ipad, yes. If you plug that in then put in your SD memory card you can copy the photos across.

You wouldnt be able to use a cable and memory card. The ipad is 'locked down' to only use certain cables/accesories.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Beau, But if I plug in a memory stick instead of the flash card will they transfer ?

Do you get iPhoto on the iPad..?

You don't get iPhoto on the iPad...just the photos app, the same as on the iPhone.

As for transferring, it seems to only recognise SD-Cards formatted in the camera inserted into the adaptor - similarly it doesn't recognise a random USB stick plugged into the camera connection adaptor.

There is, however, a way to fool the adaptors. It involves simply creating a foldername DCIM on either the SD-Card or USB stick you want to transfer pictures from and copying the pictures you want to transfer to the iPad into this folder. When an SD-Card or USB stick is inserted into the iPad via one of the adaptors the Photos app should automatically start up and list the photos contained in the DCIM folder and allow you to import them.

I've tried this with a SD-Card, Micro SD-Card (using an adaptor) and a USB stick.
