Unusual screw head id

Could anyone identify this type of fastening and tell me what I need to undo it please? (The two round ones on the bottom of an old sandwich toaster).

AFAIK

They are a type of security screw i.e. not intended for 'end user' access.

Having said that I think I recall seeing such a screwdriver for sale, just cannot remember when or where

Yep. Just last week I turned a torx bolt into a flat head.

If you have any sets of little hexagon shaped screwdriver bits it may be worth looking...

Thanks Robert, just ordered these, a new sandwich toaster is only £30 but I don’t think it will be as good as my old one that seems to have a loose connection.

Good luck with those - that looks like an ebay shot. Dad bought a super cheapie set for a similar reason to you and on the first use one of the lugs broke off rendering the bit useless. He spend a bit more at (IIRC) Axminster tools and I still have the set.

Good point, I’m wary of cheap tools but don’t know if I’ll be able to repair the toaster at all, I may end up throwing good money after bad so to speak, I’ll let you know!

I'd just get an old screwdriver and file / grind a slot in it.
