Anybody had any experience doing this? I want to use a giffgaff pay and go sim with mine so I can get some cheap internet access on the move. I've tried a few IMEI calculators but the unclock codes given don't seem to be accepted. Still got 10 attempts left according to the interface.

Have you asked Vodafone?
Trying to avoid Vodafone. Rolling contract with them and they billed me £78 for an extra 3GB of data, more than 40 times the normal rate. No longer a customer.

vodaphone are garbage, if you get good 3 coverage look at one of their PAYG SIM deals where you just buy 12gb on a sim that expires after 12 months, about £25

I note there are sites that say 'they can supply and unlock' code...........................but would one trust them. It may be that only Voda can reliably give you the code, so perhaps bite the bullet and ask them!

anyone that has access to the tools can supply t, had quite a few via ebay, its just a number that integrates with IMEI you supply them with from the device (not the SIM card)

I had some experience getting a phone unlocked earlier this year. There's a thread about it here:

It wasn't the same model of phone, but hopefully some of the material there may be relevant to you anyway.

I got an unlock code from eBay. The first provider I tried, eBay user "mobunlockingmaster", responded very quickly to say that they couldn't obtain an unlock code for my phone and they immediately issued a full refund. In retrospect I think I may have mis-typed the phone's IMEI number, so perhaps it wasn't surprising they couldn't deliver, but top marks for the response. The second one I tried was eBay user "unlock_phone_4ever" and they were successful, and also very quick. Both providers charged £1.35, both were very easy to deal with, and I would have no hesitation using them again if needed.

I got an iPhone unlocked from radio shack and that was locked to Vodafone. It took them 3 weeks but that’s was down to the lack of response from Vodafone

apple phones are unlocked differently from Chinese stuff like huweai they have to be done through apple via your isp.
the Chinese just keep it simple with codes
