unable to open a CR2 file in PS Elements 5.0

I'm sure there's been a thread about this somewhere in the past, but I cannot open photos in PS Elements 5.0 which I took using my Canon 40D, yet have no problem opening the files from shots taken on my 5D (mark I).

Any pointers on what's causing this and how I get around this and open these files would be really appreciated!

You will need to update Adobe Camera Raw if there is a version for PSE5 including the 40D, have had this a few times with raw files.

Exactly what has already been said. Adobe release updates to Camera Raw which allow for new types of cameras to be used with the software, as the 5D Mk 1 is older than the 40D, well I'm certain you can see where this is going .
