Hi All

I'm in need of some photos of the UK for a new website I'm putting together.

I'd prefer interesting landscape images of a well known county landmark as each image will be used as the header for that county section.

I'm afraid I can't afford to pay for the images but I will credit you on the site and if you are a business I'm also happy to give you some advertising space for free.

As I'm a Scottish resident I'll be creating that part of the site first so Scottish images are urgently needed, however anywhere in the UK will be most welcome.

Rick

Are you making any money from the site?

Get comfi... Beer and arm chair..... Let the good times roll................

Landscapes, as the chaps will tell you are getting harder and harder to sell. Do you should do a scheme that once you are running you can pay the togs something at a later date.

This whole site is full of threads getting cheesed off with companies and web designers etc wanting free images... Want free go out with the camera yourself....

Not really fare is it?

Oh I am sooooooooooo subscribing to this thread...

I can only echo what Daryl said, why should everyone else put in the effort for only you to gain from it. If you want to make a profit from it, go out and take the shots yourself.

Oh what am I saying, he's probably already on flickr :shake:

I can provide a couple of images, but my preferred advertising would be:
"The owner of this website is a cheapskate freeloader"

Could we do a deal on these terms?

how long to the :lock: do you think ?

and where's the popcorn smiley

I too can deal on these terms

I think a lot of photographers need to look how the web is adjusting to the free/instant/disposable lifestyle and adjust their business models accordingly.

With more and more better pictures being taken than ever before it's only a matter of time before a lot of 'traditional' business models are defunct.

It's ok spitting your dummies out every time someone asks for a free image but in reality they get them and they aren't any worse off for using them, they're better off.

I know I'll probably get flamed for this but it's the truth.

To the OP, go to flickr > advanced search and then at the bottom you can select 'creative commons/commercial use' As long as you credit the user with a link you can use any of those images.

Understatement of the century!
Have you every had your copyright infringed?

This thread isn't about copyright infringement.

BTW I'm not saying it's right what is happening, just that it is happening and if people want to survive they should adjust.

A few time and it really ****es me off :bang:

Didn't say it was but if you had had your rights breached you may well think differently about the whole giving images away for free scenario.

I'm sure you will be able to sort the OP out with some images then :)

Oh, OK, I'll make all my images free from now on.

Thanks for the heads up, dude.

Really appreciate it.

I build websites.

I'm sorry if this request has hit a raw nerve.

I'm in need of some pics to head sections of a site I'm planning. Unfortunately I live in NE Scotland and, as much as I'd enjoy doing so, it's not possible to take my own camera all over the UK to collect images for obvious reasons.

I'm not looking for a professional photographer to create a portfolio for nothing, I simply thought some of the enthusiastic amateurs on here might enjoy taking an image or two for a reason.

I was under the impression it could be fun and, as I said before, I'm happy to give credit and also ad space if you do happen to run a business (whether that be a photography business or any other kind) to say thank you.

Personally I think that is very fair.

However I have no wish to upset anyone, I can do what I usually do and go to one of the many free image sites, talk to the local attractions for permission to use their images or even buy them for a few pence on Shutterstock etc. if the members here aren't interested.

no but lots of people use images from the web without even giving a credit which is what he's reffering to - just because something happens a lot doesnt mean we should adjust to it.

also how is a full timer supposed to adjust to people not wanting to pay, you can't spend 'a credit'

The best adjustment we can make is to tell anyone who starts a thread like this that money talks and bull **** walks - if enough people get the message thast its neither big nor clever to give your work away for a credit then may be the erosion of the industry will cease to be such an issue

Fancy building a website for me for nothing? Or better yet, can you buy the ingredients for a fry up, drive to my house in the morning, and then cook it for me in my kitchen and have it ready for when I wake up?

Fry the bacon on high, though, because I like the smell to travel up the stairs.

Thanks bro.
