I would like to learn about the UK countryside, birds, trees etc. Does anyone know a dedicated website with illustrations/pics & details. I could use the library but i have the world at my fingertips right here in front of me, problem is finding what i want, google is not always helpful.

Get the relevant I-Spy book (Birds, Trees, Nature etc) and go for a walk in the countryside:

You can't really absorb and understand nature from behind a keyboard. You need to get out and experience it.

If you are just starting to learn, I'd recommend leaving your camera behind at first; it'll distract you. Walk at a medium pace and be aware of everything going on around you- sights, sounds and smells are equally important.

Ignore the myth that I-Spy books are for kids. They are a brilliant starters learning tool!

I second all of that!
I used to run twice yearly I-Spy Cub Scout camps, they were always over suscribed and the Parents loved it as much as the kids! (sometimes more).

Am not new the countryside, i just dont know what i am looking
I do go for walkabouts (& cyclabouts, ha! is that a new word?) but it's usually within 5 mile, & about 12 mile on my bike.

I will get that I-Spy book, looks like just what i need. Looked on Ebay & there are more of those I-Spy books of various themes, look into those also.

I do have problems absorbing any kind of info, i am finding it very hard to absord photography but i know i will eventually learn enough to get some decent photos.

Here are a few of my very first:

Thankyou all for your very helpful replies ;)

I'd check out the landscape section on here. You'd probably learn a lot about some of the hidden British gems.

Got the I-Spy books from WHS for £2.50 each in the childrens section  they are just what i want.
Thankyou Mark/DemiLion
