Baffled by lens

I would be grateful if anyone can advise me, which lens would I get the best results from. A Sony 18-70 or a minolta 28-85 using a sony a 350. Thanking you.

You might like to amend the title of the thread to at least give people looking at it an idea as to what it contains. At the moment it's nothing to do with the question you ask!

what type of photography?
with the 28-85mm you are giving up 11mm at the wide end for 15mm at the tele end. Minolta/KM made a later version which was 24-85mm so not quite as much loss at the wide end.
