Hey all,

I'm looking for some advice on how i can enhance certain areas/details in Lightroom v3.5.

I'm happy with the overall look and composition of the below picture but the sky, as pointed out by another member, is lacking in detail and looks a bit watery. Any tips on how i can bring some more detail into the sky and enhance the look of the shot :)

I'll also post up this shot, which i'm pretty happy with. I'd just like to get some thoughts on how i'm processing and editing my pics.

Thanks in advance

You could try brushing the sky with an adjustment brush with Clarity set to 100% with 100% Flow and 100% Density. Once you see how it changes the sky, go back in the History and undo it all then back off the brush settings and have another go. Be careful not to go right next to the buildings and trees, zooming in if necessary to avoid them, or you'll get halos around them.

The car shot is nicely processed. The angle makes it more dynamic, and the vignette makes it look as if you just glimpsed it before it shot off at high speed. That's my take, anyway.

Thanks Garry, I'll re-import it, have a play around with it and see what i can do. If i get anything decent i'll re post it up.

Thanks for the kind comments on the car shot! I walked past it and almost didn't snap it! spur of the moment thing, i just turned around and popped a couple of front and rear shots haha!

Try playing with HSL in the sky. Have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vf0YdnBDiI for a tutorial. I use that quite a lot.

Thanks a million for the link! In those 6 minutes i learnt a ton about LR i never knew! :D I took your advice and fettled the HSL levels and played with Garry's tip using the clarity brush to push that up! I ended up with this.

Please let me know what you think guys :)

No problems :) It's worth spending some time on youtube or adobe.tv on some tutorials (I quite like Julianne Kost on adobe.tv) and just playing with the sliders and seeing what they do. It took me about a year to get my head around how different tabs worked and what they did.

The edit looks much better too :)
