Morning folks, I've been wondering if I can use my HD TV as the monitor for my laptop, obviously I can connect it via hdmi but does this then mean it's displaying my laptop screen on the TV in 720p? Can I turn my laptop display off and will it then run in 1080p?
Thanks for any help :)
James

It should run at the display native resolution once you extend the Windows desktop (rather than duplicate it). How you do this will be laptop/OS dependent, but it's normally something like Fn-F7. There are a variety of reasons why using a TV as a display is non-optimal - how non-optimal it is depends on your TV more than your PC and your knowledge in setting up the TV through the menu system. It's better than nothing though :)

I use my 40" tv as a pc monitor and it works perfectly. When you plug it in it will offer a choice of resolutions but just select the native resolution.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll plug my laptop in and see what settings can be changed then and the results I get!
