Hi

I've got a few LED lights (daylight balanced), and want to use them indoors with ambient tungsten light.

I'm thinking if I can gel them for tungsten I can then white balance for that in my camera so I don't have any weird colours going on.

Can anyone recommend a good/cheap place to buy a roll/sheet from? I'm thinking if I buy a fairly big sheet, I can cut out the desired amount and tape it to my LED's. I'm finding it fairly hard to find much on the internet!

Many thanks

Lee filters do sheets just for that purpose. You need o know the colour temperature of both the lights and the tungsten lighting, then work out what strength you need. Also LED lights can have different characteristics to conventional light sources so sometimes a straight conversion doesn't work

Most household tungsten lamps are around 2,800Kelvin , not the normal photo tungsten rating of 3,200 Kelvin I suspect you may nee a LED 622 or 624 filter

Here's a link to the Lee website for LED conversion filters. You can use the filter finder in the colour temp calculator

rolls, you can buy from lots of places, but they are large and cost £50.

A local theatre might be able to help. They buy coloured gels in large sheets. Adding on an extra sheet to an order shouldn't be a problem.
