Tumblr

set one up then quickly forgot about it.. not sure what benefit exactly it offers as a business though.

Well business-wise I have no business, not as yet anyway, I have a bit more work ahead of me for that.

I get stopped quite often if I'm out with the camera or I approach people myself if they have a cool dog (I like to shoot dog images) and if they want to see the final result I direct them to my tumblr, it's just a bit more polished I feel than sending someone to a flickr account. it has also generated a bit of pocket money for me in the few weeks it's been live too.

Tumblr is a brilliant blogging platform. I've been using it for years. Super easy to use, and great for inspiration by following other interesting blogs. Check out mine if you want (warning, some NSFW content): here.

I wouldn't use it as a portfolio site though, there are better alternatives for that, such as Cargo Collective. But for uploading bigger amounts of photos and other work you find inspiring, tumblr is really good.
