Yes
got a Jessops TTL flash cable with some stuff I won on ebay recently. I tried it last night with my SB-800. With the flash on TTL and camera on manual, they flash won't fire. it just flashes the wee lightning bolt symbol. when I put the SB-800 into manual it works fine and fires away.. Am I being a numpty? or is it because its a TTL cable and not an i-TTL cable?

If you got it from ebay am I right in thinking it's used? is it the right one for your flash/camera?

It came with a D90 I bought, so yes its used.. It says "Jessops TTL off camera flash cord for Nikon on it"..

I'm not sure what's up with it. I just tried again and it will fire the flash ok, but its not TTL.. does it need to be a i-TTL cord?

i just tried my yongnuo rc-28a cord

and this fired in M and TTL, so could be your cord
