Trying to Match Kitchen worktop

Anyone able to offer any advice or assistance? I'm trying to match this green marble/granite laminate worktop:

I'm opening up the door that's hiding behind the fridge/microwave and they are getting rehoused where the breakfast bar is on the left - but I really want to build a long slim worktop along there. We think the original may have come from B&Q, but a look at their website shows nothing similar. I've drawn a blank everywhere - it seems white and black or wood is all you can get these days!
 
If you go to a granite specialist you'll find the full range of colours, but bear in mind it's a natural product so an exact match isn't really an option, the 2 pieces could be from different continents and of different ages.

I'd guess the only way to get an exact match would be replace what you have at the same time.

As Phil says, getting a match may not be easy, and as worktops usually come in 3m lengths, would one be enough for both? There are a few companies that supply just worktops who may be much better than b&q (sorry, I can't remember the name of the one I used to use) but kendo on here may be be able to help as he is a master kitchen fitter I believe.
 
yes laminate, not the real deal - would be a lot easier to get the real thing since I have a friend who is a supplier!
 
I hate to say it, but it looks quite a dated design and I really doubt you'll get anything to match now. As you say, it's all black, white, sparkly mica effect or wood these days. I think your best bet would be to replace the whole lot, especially as you already need a new piece for the breakfast bar. You could either leave the trim under the units as it is, considering it matches the tiles pretty well, or just paint over it with a specialised paint.
 
Get an independent kitchen fitter in, if they can't identify a match they could quote for replacing it all.
 
I've looked at a LOT of worktops recently, and don't recall seeing green marble effect like that - not to say you won't find something if you're willing to spend time in google.

I remember fitting that worktop in two different kitchens many years ago. I've not seen it recently.
B&Q used to do it, but stopped about 8 to 10 years ago if I remember correctly.

Your best bet is to go with a contrast - in this case white, to match the tiles.

I'd tend to agree this is probably the easiest option is to get a contrast - what about a similar finish to the breakfast bar on the left side in the picture ???

Yes, I was meaning, colour wise as he seems to be struggling to get the matching green marble effect worktop, then a timber effect worktop might look okay - as he's had a breakfast bar in that "colour"

If that makes sense...
 
Looking at the image one four meter length would do both sides so it would be a good time to change both to freshen the look and not to expensive as others have said. You could try looking at a white marble to keep in style with the tiles.
 
Isn't that a howdens shaker kitchen?
 
Measure the depth of the carcass of the kitchen cupboards! It will give you indication of who built it!

And that also looks a lot like the one we had fitted last week (Tewksbury in cream/off white) even down to the same shape handles, though we went for grey slate Duropal worktops instead of wood. When we have everything back & it's tidy I'll add before & after pics to the thread I started a while back.
 
Cheers for the insights guys, looks like it's a dead end on the matched top, so I'm going to order a beech one the same as what I'm making my workbenches out of, I don't think it'll look too out of place, you won't see much of it anyway with the microwave, toaster and whatever else that ends up sat on it. I can't stretch to redoing the kitchen completely, as much as I'd like to, so everything on that far wall is staying exactly as it is.
 
Since it'll be (mainly) hidden under appliances, why not go for the cheapest acceptable option? You might find an offcut in one of the DiY sheds that'll be long enough.
 
Because I'm ordering a sizeable amount of beech tops for other stuff, will be more cost effect to just get another bit in the same delivery than go elsewhere for something different again.
