trouble double processing raw

wondering if anybody can help ? ive got elements 9 and ive been trying to double process a raw file but for some reason it wont open up a second time for me to process again .ive tried clicking open recent and ive also tried to open it again from the original folder but niether option will work.is there a setting i have to select ?
any help apreciated as this is driving me mad !!!

You need to make a copy of the file outside photoshop, then open the copy. You can't open a file that's already open.

Alternative, inside photoshop, is to copy the background layer from the original, open a new (blank) file which should default to the size of the clipboard (i.e. the bit you have just copied) and then paste into that, then save as a new file, not over the original.

Have you still got the first version open? I'm guessing your trying the one version for the sky and another for the foreground or similar? if thats what your doing try holding down alt and you'll get open copy option, that will open in PS proper, then just drag your raw back in and it'll open again now you can change it (exposure whatever) now just click open and it'll open it in PS as well as the first version.
