Hey guys!
I've recently got a part time job and I was wondering if you guys will tell me some good sturdy tripods my budget at the moment is roughly £75 so I'm sure that would get me a decent one.
If you think its more on what id prefer to use could you please tell me what I need to look for when I'm looking at them and testing :) thanks!

Your budget is tiny for a good tripod - you need stability first - possibly light weight - these all cost - depends what your are putting on it though - and is that budget to include the head??

oh no I thought that would be enough for one really I could save up more before I get one yet then but yeah its to include the head.

Thanks for replying.

It'll get you a Slik 400DX Secondhand or a new Redsnapper which are all capable enough. If weight is an issue you could also get a New Slik Sprint, but not recceomended for DSLRs or wind.

I think you still get 10% off Redsnapper if you say your a TP member, If this is no longer the case, sorry for getting your hopes up

Step one, decide what you need from the tripod.

Stability is essential.

Lightweight is optional. WIll you be carrying it long distances?

Do you need it to be tall?

Do you need it to be able to get close to the ground?

You can trade-off some extra weight against a cheaper price on a second-hand tripod if lightweight isn't essential. But only you can decide what tripod will meet your needs, everyone else can only suggest tripods that suit their needs or are generalist options.

If I were you- I'd save up and buy a decent tripod like Manfrotto or Giottos, forget cheapo tripods, you get what you pay for in the end

Les :D

I've had my red snapper for a couple of months now and am really pleased with it if that helps...

There is a seemingly good Manfrotto on eBay just now (without head) for £59.95 (buy it now price).

If you shop carefully on ebay, you can get a basic manfrotto setup for close to that budget, if not under that budget (although you might not have much head choice..). I just received the £49.99 (new) set of '190 legs, but still waiting on the (used) £35 3-way head, I ordered.

Anything bought high-street or at RRP for that budget will be far less sturdy than hunting out such a bargain. And you're buying into a system that is upgradable piecemeal at some later point as your needs or budget change.

I have used a rednapper tripod for a couple years now and it is great, the stability and build quality is excellent, may be a little bit on the heavy side but i couldnt find many tripods that were alot lighter unless you paid alot more money.

also you get a really comfy bag to carry it in.

I would definately recommend.
