So guys!

I just brough a 1D mark 1 and 5 batterys for 300 quid off a mate. Its amazing.

I'm looking for a Tripod! Basicly i need it to take the weight of the 1d no problem, and i also want a quick move plate thing. So i can keep the plate on the cam and just slid onto the tripod.

Is there also a Tripod and Monopod that both use the same plate? As that would be crazy useful!

Cheers

Hi Simon,

Lots to choose from...whats your budget?

Ive got a Manfrotto 055XProB tripod, you then buy a head, I've got the Manfrotto 322rc2 for it - There are different types of 'head' ballhead, three way & others - this will have the quick release plate on it if you choose it.

Then get a monopod and a plate (or head if you wish). Then you can quickly clip the camera to either support.

I think all heads for tripods and monopods are interchangable, as long as they have the 3/8" screw thread which im sure is industry standard.

Ello!

Just check'd that stuff out! Seems a little Pricey :(

Was looking at around 50ish for a tripod and head :)

Jessops have a carbon fibre tripod for 79 quid at present which is pretty reasonable.

If you intend to use a tripod regularly then it's worth spending more on it. I went the £50 route and quickly ended up going for a Manfrotto 055X and wish I'd got it in the first place (as everyone at the time advised). The 50 quid tripod is total crap by comparison (and arguably did little for my images).

That said, a good tripod is quite expensive and it's a bit of a leap of faith - but everyone will tell you it pays to get a decent one, and it's one of those lessons it's better to avoid learning yourself! You don't have to spend as much as the 055X though. You can get a 190 with a head for just shy of a ton. Best double check it will support your camera+lens though.

Re: sharing monopod and tripod QR plates, if you get this head for your monopod it will share the plate with many other Manfrotto heads (I use the 494RC2 on my tripod).

maybe you can refer Benro C-2691M8,It has an extra function, one of the leg can be used to monopod, it is light and convenient...
