Hi guys, not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if not, I just have a question about tripods and hand luggage.

We're off to Iceland for 3 days next month and I'm wanting to take a tripod with me but we're only taking hand luggage, are there any restrictions or has anyone encountered any problems taking one before in hand luggage?

Cheers

Thanks Andy, I'll have to have a look and maybe ring up then!

Hi Daniel,
Hope this isn't too late for your trip. A friend of mine went to Iceland around October last year and he only took hand luggage including his tripod. He flew with Easy Jet and went for 4 days, so it can be done.

Dave.

Thanks for the replies, I couldn't take one in the end as I didn't manage to purchase or borrow one in time. You're right though Dave there was a few people on the flight carrying Tripods so for future reference it's fine!!

Did you manage to see the Northern Lights, my friend brought back some awesome pictures. I would love to go, but i must admit the temperatures put me off a bit. :coldfeet:

Well.....we didn't see any the whole time we were there until the last day when we got picked up to travel back to the airport, our driver told us they had seen some on the way to picking us up and low and behold whilst driving to the bus station we saw them....and the camera was in the bag in the back of the bus!! Gutted!! We were glad we saw them though, even if they were on the small side! The light pollution from the city really does make a difference not to mention the cloud cover whilst we were there as the weather was crazy!!

It wasn't too cold to be honest, I think the lowest it got was about -5 it was the just wind that made it slightly unbearable. I would go back in the future but probably later in the year.

The law of sod strikes again. I'm sure you'll get some shots next time. Just to pick you up on "it wasn't too cold" -5 exaclty my point about being too cold lol. It might be me being a bit soft, but -5 too much for me ;). Glad you enjoyed the trip though :)

Ha ha yeah I guess it was pretty cold, we came back to the UK on Tuesday to bright sunshine and it almost felt like Summer so maybe it was colder than I am letting on!!
