Hi all,

I'm after a new tripod and head, and I dont have a clue what to go for! I mainly shoot landscapes and various night time/light trail images.
I ideally want one I can get low to the ground, and preferably with clips on the legs, not twisty things (if that makes sense).
I currently have a Red Snapper and its a load of poo.
Budget - £200 tops! Would prefer cheaper

Thanks,
Jake

Manfrotto 190 XPro models or 550XPro models, if you can afford CF[carbon fiber] version type of tripod that would be even better.

That depends, many recommend the ballhead one, but maybe 3 way or geared one can serve you more, it is all up to what or how you shoot, if you can try both before you buy.

Slightly off topic but interested in your comment about the Redsnapper as there's a few recommendations on here for them and I was looking at getting one. Why are you unhappy with it?

The head will never stay still, it wont hold tight and it often moves, even with my tightening it as much as I physically can. Secondly when extending the legs, a slight margin of over twist and the leg comes completely out and leaves little bits of fiddl plastic around - never been the same since.

Thanks for that. I may have to have another look at Amazon again

From what I hear on this site Red Snapper are a very approachable lot. Could be worth talking to them before shelling out a lot more.

Hi Dave,

I've had it over a year now so it's not in warranty.
It doesn't go low enough to the ground for my liking anyway so a new one is still needed

Taken from their website. Might be worth a call. Could get it fixed and sell it to fund a new one!
