Hi guys and gals,

I am a final year Product Design Engineering student at the University of Strathclyde. Part of my final year involves a design project. My design project is based on the redesign of the camera tripod.

I would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes filling out this short survey in the link below.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/S896MZ6%20

Any comments and opinions are welcome!

Thanks!

Done, and good luck!

Done

One of your options might want to be about load carrying capability?

Completed, surprised one of the questions didn't mention stability

Done, but i think you have missed off a major option in question 6. What is an important criteria when selecting a tripod?, and that is stability. Or i guess you could categorise it as build quality, but it's not strictly the same thing.

I am not bothered if it is made of unobtanium, looks like it was designed by Ferrari, fit's in my pocket and makes me a coffee on a cold day all for the princely sum of £9.99.
If it's going to wobble in a light breeze i'm not interested. :)

well i have to say your survey misses the most important part of the use of a tripod

Stability in use.

Done. would like to see the results of this survey, and the project.

Done and good luck

I have PM'd you a list of my consultancy fees. If they're acceptable, I will complete the survey.

;) Done.

Done Come back soon and let us know of the redesign

My one concern is that I got the impression that your redesign is based more around the speed of setting it up than anything else.

Now, I am not sure if its just me but I have never used a tripod in a situation that needed a quick setup. Landscapes, wildlife, portraits or product shots are subjects where a quick setup tripod isn't a major concern.

make sure that you aren't trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist as that could go against you.

Totally agree and answered the question about quick set up with "i'm in no rush"

Not as though it takes that long, rushing only causes mistakes and better to take your time and get things right

Would be nice to receive updates.

Survey completed.

Best of luck on you endeavor.

Thanks for completing the survey guys! :)

I appreciate all the feedback. Right now, the project is still in it's early stages so I will take on board all your thoughts and opinions.

The project will be completed sometime in April so I will post up my ideas and final design around then.
