Tripod needed

I know I am going to need a tripod to get a chance of decent pictures when I'm a distance from my target, and I have had a look through some of the older threads but still cannot make my mind up (yes I'm a typical woman!!)

I would rather get something thats decent second hand than a cheaper new one, and want if possible to pay up to £100 fot the tripod and head.
I am not going to be walking for miles around hills or anything like that, but I may at some point go across a couple of fields, so that needs to be taken into consideration weight wise! Other than that I need it to hold a 40D with lens, at a max viewfinder height of about 1.60 and be be sturdy. I probably don't want a ball head as I want to be able to move the camera around to follow the target easily.

Before I put a thread in the wanted section I thought I would get some opinions. I suppose it may also be an idea to wait until after christmas to see if there are any unwanted pressies or people getting newer models and wanting to sell :D
 
for £100 you will get a manfrotto 190 and a head (can't remember which off the top of my head but it's advertised in most mags atm) brand new and it's a more than capable tripod :)
 
Thanks, I missed the ebay one, but will find a magazine and see whats advertised.
 
Thanks, that was one of the threads I found, just that the prices were more than I wanted to pay, unless of course I get money from anyone at christmas that I could put towards it.
I suppose its also possible that there would be sales in the new year that could throw up a bargain!
