Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the tripod grease type that I could use on the legs after cleaning.
It is a Giottos screw lock type carbon fibre traveler's tripod.
I am sure someone cleaned their tripod?
A bit of help would be appreciated.

(tiny amount of) White Lithium Grease

You should never use grease on the legs as it could get in the bushings and attract dirt, get on your hands / camera / lens / sensor......:nono:

You should only apply grease to the upper areas of any threads once you have stripped it down.
Have a read HERE, its a guide to stripping down and cleaning / greasing a Gitzo carbon fibre tripod. You can get proper tripod grease( Gitzo, here) but Lithium, or even better, synthetic grease could be used.

Thank you guys, I will check this out.
Although from what I can see the grease used in this tripod is not white but rather browny colour and quite sticky.
What happened is that the sand accidentally got into the top section of the tripod legs, where there are little levers that can be pulled to change the angle of legs. Obviously the sticky grease placed in there attracted all the small sand particles. Nothing happened to the tripod, but I removed some grease with all the sand and now I would like to put some back in there as the levers are not as smooth and resistant.
Screw locks are actually fine as only a few sand particles were removed straight away, no need to grease these I guess.

The levers I am talking about can be seen on a photo in article here, typical Giottos I guess:

Is the white lithium grease good for this area?

Many thanks.

PS Thankfully ball head was fine and no sand there...

Allan,

Thanks, but the price of Gitzo grease somehow puts me off;)
I would splash out if I needed to grease the ball head as I think that would be its main application (and in this case probably worth it)
Many thanks for link to the article, very useful.
