Hi all,

I'm looking at getting my 1st tripod and would like some suggestions from all you wonderful forum members.

What equipment do I have?
A Canon 550d, a 50mm 1.8, Tamron 17-50mm non-vc.

What do I need it for?
I do a lot of travelling and will be off to the Maldives in the next few weeks.
I also like to do a lot of family/individual portraits and want to get into landscape/waterfalls.
I'm also thinking about going on safari to Africa at some point next year so would probably use a 100-400mm lens.

What am I looking for?
Something lightweight but sturdy. This is not a major concern though as I wouldn't be using it all the time whilst away.
Something as portable as possible given the above, perhaps with a tripod bag.
Budget-wise, up to £100

I've looked at Manfrotto and RedSnapper so far but there's s much choice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

not as light as some but will take the 100-400 I would thinks but if you can afford them check these out

plus £20 back and half price head and if you use quidco you will get free delivery and 3% back
or this one is similar but a bit heavier

or you could go down the manfrotto 190 route also
general prices here and reviews on warehouse express normally ok if you want to check out some of them

My requirements were pretty much the same as yours, I ended up with an old Slik from ebay. Sturdy and light.
