OK so there are a lot of threads like this all over the internet however no one seems to be asking about tripods for old heavy film cameras, i am using a Mamiya C330 and Mamiya Press and Canon 5d, the reasons for getting a new tripod is because my cheap plastic one cant handle the weight and i think i could do a better job hand holding in the wind than it could, it want something that will hold 5kg, i am not too bothered about how heavy it is i don't want something lightweight and streamline, everyone seems to be going for the Manfrotto 055XPROB Tripod, and i have looked online at a cheaper option the Calumet 7300 Tripod, i know these can hold the weight but if i want something long term that wont be pushed about in the wind will these do, looking to keep it under £100 ideally but if something stands out to you that would be much better for a little more let me know.

Thanks, James

Thanks for the reply, i will look a little into what deals i might be able to get.

I asked about tripods the other week, was also told about the Slik 700, think it was dx model. Worth a look a around that price, if you look back a week or so, you should be able to find my thread. Very sturdy a photo of a child hanging off it.

I recently got a Induro AT413 as a heavier step up from my Manfrotto 055XPROB and am very pleased with it. If that's too heavy or pricey (cost me £166 - including shipping from the USA because it isn't on sale in Hong Kong, despite being made just across the border:thinking:) then there are some good alternatives in their AT range.

Thanks for the replies looking into some new models now thanks for the advice, just what i was after
