I have an old tripod that measures around 41mm where the mount fits. My question, to those wot know these things, is can I fit a ball head with a diameter of 50mm? Is the extra 9mm width going to cause problems with stability? and, if so, would a 50mm collar mounted below help..
I almost consigned this tripod to the tip as the leg locks often fail, but given it's closed height, it may well be worth keeping it just for table-top stuff and my wife does zoom stuff as well. Don't know the make of this thing, it rubbed off years ago but it might have come from Jessops back in the day.
