trigger for bats

I hold a licence for disturbing bats and am looking to photograph them are they leave their roost. Can anyone give me a guide on how to use some sort of trigger to use flash as the leave the roost and fly?

Me? i'd probably rig up some sort of optical/IR curtain wired into a remote wireless trigger.

Even thought you hold a license I personally wouldn't flash them too much in one go, you wouldn't want to cause harm.

I believe there are different types of licenses, so I'd make sure yours covers photography.

Flash photography is allowed, but not near roosting sites as I understand it.
