Guys I fancy having a go with the lastolite triflector and wondered if anyone could recommend me one variant over an other. There’s seems to be a few different types and colours and hoped someone could advise me.

There are two points about reflectors that have to do with
make quality; reflectance and WB.

Cheaper makes may have lower reflectance but this can be
handle easily and WB witch is the less critical parameter at
SR. Conséquently, remains the mechanical factor that has
to do mainly with the handling: rigidity, flexibility etc.

For the picture itself, the only factor is the reflectance. For
the making of the picture, the handling is very important.

Colour wise do you think the gold/silver combo would be more useful than the silver/white combo?

I'm not quite sure when I would use the gold.

Silver white will give you greater usage...
gold tends to be more for olive skin tones.

Just think of it like a system…
  • The white reflector will produce a soft box type of reflection
  • The silver will be more like a hard reflector and its features
  • The gold one is behaving like the silver one but it adds tones
that will warm up the scene… so much so that there was the
need to attenuate the gold with silver and even white!
