Hi Guys,

Thought I'd post quickly as this is only the 2nd time I've managed to find any internet, and so it might be unlikley that I'll be able to reply.

We are 28 days into our 50 day trek over the pyrenees from the atlantic to the med. taken the odd photo but will be posting them on my return at the start of August. To say it has been tough going would be a bit of an understatement but we keep going, I could have done without 7kgs of camera gear going up some of these hills, especially as it rained non stop for the first 2 weeks! To sum it up I don't know why we thought carrying 16kgs over 500 miles, ascending and descending the equivillent of 7 everests would be easy!

Anyway the odd posting we make goes up at www.iwouldwalk500miles.co.uk if anyone is interested, I plan on getting the diary postings and photos up when we get back. Words of encouragement, and possibly the odd donation to our just giving page are always appreciated.

Take care and we'll write soon

One foot in front of the other.
When I was 18 I walked along the French Andorra border, nothing compared to what you are doing but it nearly killed me.

Well done to all involved.

I'm very jealous! I was thinking of doing it this summer as well but didn't want to do it on my own... :(

Looks like you're packed light (at least without camera gear) so that's a good start. :p What photography gear did you take? Looks like you dodn't take the lightest stuff!

Look forward to your photos. :)

Thanks guys, I think we are pretty close to exhaustion now, only 12 days left.

Camera wise I have taken a 5D with a 24-70, few cards, batteries, filters, not a great deal but it all adds up, I've also got a manfrotto CF tripod and ballhead which is a bit of a killer to cart round, I expected to do more early morning and late evening shots but it turns out we are in bed and asleep by 7 most nights, out walking again at 6 trying to cover the a good amount of ground before the sun hits us and the last few days it has been pretty fierce! Only had a couple of dedicated photo instances, bit demotivating when it rained pretty much non stop for the first 2 weeks but I've got a few shots I think could work.

Anyway must dash, internet seems a bit more common further east at least!

Well we've finished the trek now, thanks for all the kind words of support (took days to read them, honest!) I'll hopefully start processing the photos from tomorrow. Maybe some shots will generate a bit of interest.

Sounds great! If only my knee wasn't so painful - it complains when I go upstairs these days! I really must get a new one :)
