Travelling to the USA - Documentation?

I've never left the EU before so I'm slightly confused about what hoops I need to jump through to satisfy the paranoid yanks.

I'm travelling in October from Heathrow to Minneapolis on Delta Airlines, I've got a Visa Waiver form thing, but I'm unsure what else I need to do? I hear things about "Additional Passenger Information" and the TSA Secure Flight Program Link

Anyone knowledgeable on this sort of thing?
 
You don't *need* anything other than your passport - all required documentation will be provided to you on the plane to complete ahead of arrival at US Immigration.

Depending on what they are running now (it changes almost monthly) it will be a green I-94 visa waiver form and a white CBP Customs form.

What you MUST do before you fly is complete the ETSA form.

Other than that, you'll need to go through the finger scanning at the immigration desk (left three middle, right thumb, right three middle etc.) and smile for their webcam :lol:

Sounds like I'm sorted then, I meant the ETSA when I said the Visa Waiver Form.

Yep, that's the only thing you have to complete pre-departure. It's not necessary, but it's worth printing out a copy of the approved application to have in your paperwork just in case.

I travel to the US about 6 times a year on average and I think I've only ever been asked for it twice, but if I didn't have it I know I would be in the queue for quite some time whilst they looked it up!

Enjoy the trip, Delta are quite a good airline for the transatlantic flight.
 
Thanks, I was just a little worried of getting all the way there and being put on the first flight back because I'd missed one silly little :D
 
You have all you need so you'll be fine, the only advice I have for you is be prepared to be patient, VERY patient in the queue for immigration when you get to the states. It can take a very loooonnnggg time sometimes!!! :bonk:

yes there customs are very quick :suspect:

the last seven time's we have been to florida we have seen the same customs guy and all by accident , by been in the que you can not normally see them so pure luck on seeing him , we normall have a chat to him as he knows us well now :lol:

You realise they scan the entire internet for anti-US sentiments and link them back to you through your IP, right?

You're now on some sort of watch list.

That is the point of the online ETSA...

They just don't let you even get on the plane if they don't want you.... :-)
 
You could apply to ETSA but this could cause problems at immigration on entry :bang:

ETSA = European Textile Services Association

ESTA = Electronic System for Travel Authorization

You may have more luck with ESTA :)
