I am looking for a tripod for taking on travels; mainly for cityscapes.

I just need it to be small, light, strong and simple.

It will have a 6D and 17-40 or 24-70/2.8 on it.

New or used I don't care but needs to be available fairly soon as I head to the far east next week.

£75-150

Many Thanks,

Have a look at the Manfrotto BeeFree One , £100 from Wex but might be cheaper elsewhere
I bought one for the same reason as you and its fine with a Fuji xt-1 and a 100-400

Thanks! Is yours the "befree", or the "befree one" ? Does it feel like it will be long lasting, or break easily?

Mine is the Bee Free One ( The red one at Wex)
It seems OK not flimsy but not as substantial as my 190ProB but then again I would not expect it to be.
They do a 30 day return and at the moment they are doing free delivery on orders over £50 https://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/wex-photographic.
Give them a ring but have a look at other places

I like my Sirui T-005X which is in budget from Amazon (http://amzn.to/2qkwdqK), contracted it will fit across the top of small shoulder bag or slip into a backpack. More stable than it looks, particularly if you trade a little height to splay the legs out a bit or hang your bag from the carabiner under the centre column. It comes with an Arca head, so worth getting an L-bracket for your camera. I got mine as a travel companion to a Manfrotto X-ProB, but the -ProB doesn't get many outings since the Sirui arrived.

I can only second the Befree suggestion, I have the original one (not the Befree One) and not sure whats changed but generally its been a very sturdy, small bit of kit to stick in a suitcase and seems to have lasted well enough, 4 years I've had it now and its travelled around Europe and despite a few dings and scrapes its been great. I've just bought a Gitzo traveller to replace it at a cost of £650 and to be honest the Befree is so good I'm thinking of returning the Gitzo and buying the Carbon Fibre Befree instead.... its a lot cheaper!

I use the MeFoto Roadtrip.
Has been good for me so far and will be coming with me to Thailand this year.

I am a bit lost with what an Arca head / L plate is to be honest!?

Great - thanks. What camera gear do you use on your Sirui ? A couple of reviews suggested this is more for 4/3 systems / smaller DSLRs
Either a Fuji X-E2 or Sigma Merrills. I'd take the 4kg limit with a pinch of salt, but some of the X-E2 + adapted lens combinations I've used with it are of the same sort of weight as a FF DSLR and lens. I wouldn't put my RB67 on top.

It's a travel tripod, it's about the portability rather than the absolute stability. I try not to be complacent using it, and keep a hold of the camera strap just-in-case (unless I'm using it low down and I've got the legs widely splayed).
