I've a big trip coming up next month with work and I'd like to take some camera gear to take advantage of days off. Anyone have and recommendations for travel camera insurance? Because it's a work trip I'll have general travel insurance through them, but because of that there's also a clause to not take excessive personal items. Rather than risk something happening and having to argue, I'm happy to take out insurance for the camera gear myself!

FWIW I use Aaduki to insure my camera gear and that includes foreign travel.

But it might be worth checking with your house contents insurance company whether you are covered by that policy......and if not can you add cover & for what extra premium?

I'll check Aadumi out. Don't want to link them to the house insurance - wouldn't want the premium on that going up for something essentially unrelated to it.

Thanks!

Same here, not wanting to link with my house insurance, I have insured my camera gear with eversure.

In theory, ANY insurance claim should be reported to all your policy providers at your next renewal. One of the criteria for deciding on your premiums is your likelihood to claim on any policy.

If something isn’t covered under a policy then there is no need to report it.

There's a Citizen's Advice page here that explains the rules...

Thanks, doesn’t change what I said though. No need to disclose any losses if the policy doesn’t cover them and you only need to answer the questions your insurer asks.

Just had my house insurance renewal through. It doesn't ask any questions so I have no need to declare anything more. The fact it’s gone up 20% and I’m going to look around is something else.
