We should have been in Cornwall for three weeks from last Friday but my wife developed diverticulitis. Very painful. She rang the surgery on Friday at the magic 8.30am and was placed 30+ in the queue. Eventually, she got through and was given an appointment at 3.00pm. Our surgery is excellent. She's been given antibiotics. The doctor advised her not to travel for two days. On Sunday she was still in pain and unable to sleep properly. This morning, the same. She'll be contacting the surgery again tomorrow for more effective painkillers. I've since taken the suitcases back into the house and other stuff we were taking. It's a self-catering cottage. We hope to go on Friday. It's Friday >Friday.
The reason I'm posting is to highlight how important it is to let the insurance company know of all your medical history ...up to a point. I can't recall everything,I don't think most people can. It's anything that's likely to flare up again that would cause a problem. My wife had diverticulitis 5 years ago and some time before that. It recurred last August.. She'd forgotten about it until the August bout and called the company back then to inform them of it. She spoke to someone at the company today who wants a letter from the doctor stating that my wife wasn't fit to travel for two days and,as it now turns out another couple of days. We're claiming for the first week. The company also want to know from the landlady/agent when we arrive.
This recent case in August came to mind.
