Transferring files

If I transfer a file (pictures) from say a memory stick to the hard drive on either my laptop or desk top computer, I cannot get I cannot get the file to go to my pictures folder, I can send it to my documents folde o possibly Music folder but not the pictures folder, there is no facility for doing so that from the drop down menu. Any thoughts on this what can be done.
 
Assuming you are using Windows ,in file manager just select all the required files select copy and then paste them where you want them , don't bother with the drop down menu , if you are using a Mac then I have no idea.
 
What he said - copy the files at their location, then paste them into the destination folder. Works for all common operating systems.
 
Thanks very much. It is was obvious when you think about it. The file that was to be transferred was very large and it went over in about 4 seconds. Again thanks.
