I'm interested in getting a couple of trail cams to install in a more wild part of the garden (mores after moving to the country that our suburban current environment). Can anyone recommend please? I don't have a particular budget in mind but I guess I'd like to keep it under £100 each if possible. I want decent quality but at the end of the day it's a first foray into the genre so I can always upgrade later if I really find I get results of interest.
Thanks in anticipation

I have 2 Apeman H55's in my woodland... the quality is enough[for now].- the Apeman H70 is not a good upgrade as it has issues. Next up is the Browning Recon range[more money]

To add...
This thread has a few of us using trail cams... so you can see the quality.

Thanks @Solo man I've looked at the thread and ordered a couple based on what I read there. If I get any worthwhile results I'll post

I have an Apeman of some sort - with dark IR lighting so the subjects aren't aware. Not perfect but it did catch a few things over a week or 2. Had there been more of interest, I might have invested in something better but the Apeman was worth every penny as a proof of concept/research/trial.

Hi @lindsay56

Curious as to what you went with and how you found it. I've been poking around search looking for something, as my wife has decided we need to get one to watch the hedgehonks.

Hi Ian, I went with the Apeman H55, setting it as per recommendations on this site (720p, 5 sec trigger, 30 sec recordings), and it did the job perfectly. I'm looking forward to setting them up in a more rural environment later this year after moving house. Definitely recommended.

Hmm... Looks like they're discontinued.... :(

So it seems. Mind you they were apparently described as entry-level and 16Mp so maybe newer/higher def ones would be better.

I've also been looking into trail cameras recently but have been put off by most of them using 8 AA batteries. I could use rechargeable batteries but that just seems like a lot of faffing around, although I guess it depends on how long they last.

An earlier post said that there were problems with the Apeman H70, but I have been using 3 of them for over 12mths without any problems! They are vastly superior to the H55 (which I also have). My last set of 'Eneloop' batteries, lasted for 8mths!
