I know I know... a bit cheeky being a bit new here n all but I'm going to risk it and ask anyway.

what are your trade secrets? you know... where on earth do you get your prints printed? where do you get your favourite picture albums from?
that kind of thing... come on share your best tips for dealing with the outside world.

I don't have any yet... but I know a friendly smile sometimes helps.

Trade Secrets are so called for a reason :D

Trade Discounts, now that's a different story... to benefit from Trade Prices the supplier normally expects you to have a Pro website, Business Cards or a Letterhead and an address they can look up in such as Yellow Pages. Some won't deal with you at all unless you 'look' like a Pro - though I know a few amateurs who've managed to pass themselves off and get the discounts

Is that what you meant originally?

Prints - Colab usually.

Frames - I use a couple of local companies that do me a deal on hand made frames or a local art shop that does reasonably priced frames for the lower priced market.

Albums - usually client choice as I don't mark up the prices. I do like Vision Art for their photo books, great quality and reasonable prices.

hmm interesting and helpful to know that.

blimey... i feel a bit stupid even asking this but if you don't ask you won't find out..here we go...
what I really wondered is who do pro photographers use to print their pics? you know so they don't have any manufacturers names on the back?
is it completely amateur to use your local max speilmans?! I just haven't ever seen or used a desktop printer that actually prints fantastic pictures.

any other hints or tips to make it in the world of photography? without already having decades of experience behind you.

So is that the main reason for using online labs? price and quality?
