n30_mkii, just had a flick through the landscapes must say yours is definitely one of the best! The blues look stunning!
 
oops i forgot to enter

just had a look on the canon site under the sports section.
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the idea (and rules) were to go out and shoot something specifically for the competition? Looking at the sports section there are loads of shots on there taken from events blatantly pre-2008

All the photos look soft, including mine, which should be pin sharp. I don't know why Canon bothered specifying a target file size to fit 1024 X 768 and < 500KB if they have gone ahead and resized the photos anyway. It completely defeats any attempts to display a perfectly sharp image. I am annoyed but we're all in the same boat.

I thought mine looked soft, so its not just mine then

Yup, I'm disappointed with how it looks on the Canon site.
The far peak is the focus in the original (800px image posted here previously).
 
do family and friends have to be registered to vote?

I looked at mine and thought the same. No way was I going to ask for support for an image that doesn't deserve it. The photo I entered was fine, not a chance in hell of winning, but it looked better than this.
