. . . Strength.

In the cold hard light of Facebook and people being able to run their own group pages, the "traditional" web site forum seem to be a dying breed . . . and yet good ol' Talkphotography appear to be growing in size!

I wonder what is the secret? Either or, I suspect Marcel must be feeling proud, not to mention the demand placed on The Server Hamster.

I may not post as often as I used to, but I say Long Live TP

You mean you haven't received the new members reward cheque for £10,000 yet?

You'll be telling me next that you haven't had your free night of passion with Holly Willoughby either.

:D I could create a second account with a different name. And can I substitute Holly with Lisa Riley?

Dang, I gotta stop this habit of typing out loud.

I agree that TP is an excellent forum but I don't agree with your basic assertion that

I have been using forums (or bulletin boards as was) since before there was a WWW and there are some I have participated in for more than 15 years, I don't sense much decline. The big difference between social media and a forum is that social media is about yourself but a forum is topic based. You get much more discussion on a forum and the pseudonymity helps people perhaps be a bit freer with their views.

:) And a weather forum I've been a member of for the best part of a decade certainly had seen better days. It seems to be only used by long standing loyal members, with more losing interest than new ones joining in. But going from there and logging into here and it's like walking into a packed out club thriving full of people.

Seriously though, some forums do stagnate and people move off elsewhere. It will be interesting to see whether the facebook generation stick with it or end up using forums as well in 5 to 10 years time

I seem to remember a thread on here not so long ago about a virtual reunion for members who had been here since TP began..
I was amazed just how many people had been here for so long, and it made me think about how many forums I had joined and drifted away from since then..
