TP Day 2011 - Entries Thread - Slideshow now out!

We already have done.
I've already had emails from him, which culminated in the latest one, him just replying

"F*** off" (Obviously he didn't star it out).
So there you go Ladies and Gents, Andrew Wilson of Andrew Wilson Photography told me to eff off. I feel honoured :p

Anyway, lets not let him ruin what is an absolutely brilliant effort from the rest of the community, and especially Matt who put alot of hard work into this.

Cheers everyone! :)

And he emailed Matt with another rantogram, insisting it be removed or we'll be charged for commercial use, blah blah blah.

So he's earned himself a permaban. He can go and be a miserable arse somewhere else.

Sad when it comes down to that isnt it Marcel,

Its only a fun day made into slideshow, with lots of time and effort put into it, Im sure all the members who took part and those that didnt, enjoyed taking their shots, and seeing them in the slideshow, a great idea, and a credit to TP community, lets hope next years is just as good

FTR, I always got on with Andy and hes helped me lots behind the scenes,

And Matt well done for this years day, it pulls the TP together, I know how much time effort and thought has been put into it, and last years (LOL I got at least 30 pms a minute last year ) dont let this glitch put you off next years, a box of jaffas on their way to you

Dave

Image has been removed from the slideshow, book and email system.

Reuploading slideshow shortly.

Took the opportunity to tweak the rogues at the end so that they are now in their rightful chronological order :)

As for the resolution - the slideshow contains 121 images (now!) and uploading them full res would take an age, and be seriously slow to render for the viewer. We were looking to use the full screen as a means to remove browser frames etc.

As Dawn has rightly pointed out too - we had a fair few entries that were shot on P&S's and iPhones - so some will be more pixcellated than others.

Sorry to say this but I could see his point (sort of) when me and Mrs Sprout first looked through the slideshow (full screen as the option was there) AWP's shot was the first one to stand out as not looking right and Mrs Sprout said it looked out of focus. When my shot came around it was a bit of a let down to see it look so bad at full screen. Wasn't great to start with but I've still got it as my wallpaper so I know it wasn't that blurry. There are a few others which have suffered greatly as well.
That being said, it doesn't take away the time and effort put into organizing, collating and creating the slideshow and has been said there are limitations with file sizes for loading. So a big well done to Matt again for bringing it all together.
Quite happy for my image to stay as it is by the way and no charge whatsoever.

I've watched the slideshow a couple of times and read the comments, and what comes over loud and clear is the community spirit the day set out to achieve.

I love the feeling of the hours passing and a whole group of people who only know each other through the virtual world of TP getting out their cameras, iphones, whatever and taking a shot of something they were experiencing in those 24 hours. Yes, some shots are stunning photos but they are *all* glimpses into somebody's life - awesome.

Huge thanks to Matt and Dave as well as all the contributors, and I hope you are up for doing it again next year.:clap::clap:

He could have delivered his point in a much better way though. Matt saved all images for the slideshow at 80% as some are enormous, perhaps the full screen option should be a bit less full screen...

Agree he could have been more tactful, after all it was to bring the joy and passion of the community together, not split it wide open, I think Matt put a great deal of effort into it and should be congratulated for all the hard work, time and effort he put in, well done Matt

Ive sent you a link to the intro Matt now, for you to download

Any idea of when will the book be ready for us to get a copy?,

Oh yes forgot to say thanks also to Simmotino for his work on the promotional logo

Once again well done everyone you all did a sterling job, fab images

I entirely agree. In fact my thoughts that I mentioned were all before he posted. I kept them to myself at the time, because at the end of the day they had nothing to do with the spirit of the day or the idea behind it.

All he had to do was email Matt and say

"Hi, Seems the resizing has done something to the quality of my shot, I've resized it manually for you. Any chance you could replace it with this one?

Thanks"

As usual, people skills are completely lost on some people.

Nope just get a black screen. iPad 1 with tp app. Strange.
Edit - works ok on the PC

Is it driven by Flash or a JavaScript engine? If it's the former you won't see it on an iPad.

It is driven by flash :)

We are working to put them into a TP Gallery too so all can see them

When I had a look through, yes I can understand the point of them pixelating at full screen. However, that wont happen at the native resolution of the slideshow. what does come across though is the fact when you are looking at it full screen on a high resolution 24 inch plus monitor, it is GOING to pixelate. No matter what you do. Unless the slide as has been mentioned is done to the resolution of his screen, it can't be helped. The point of getting a 'professional' monitor, like in his case, is to get more pixels per inch on it, but if the pixels aren't there in the first place it cant create them.
But then again, any self respecting 'professional' would have already known that... ;-)

Full screen mode crashes my Opera browser. So I tried it in IE. That crashed me totally - blue screen.

Just contemplating what sort of tantrum to have.........................

........sod it.............I'll have a cuppa and some chocolate instead.

OMG

This wonderful thread seems to have been diverted into a cul DE sac, I am ashamed to say,
I have just looked through the slide performance and there are, photographs of all kinds, one offs, lucky shots, well thought out projects, encompassing all genres from Photographers by subject,Aerial photography,Black and white photography,Environmental photography,Flash photography ,Landscape photography ,Nature photography ,Photojournalism,Social documentary photography,Action Shots,Candid photography ,Documentary photography,Fine-art photography ,Food photography ,Genre works,Imagery intelligence ,Lifestyle photography ,Lomography or just OFF:),Mug shot,Night photography,Panorama,Pet photography,Portrait photography,Social photography ,Still life photography ,Street photography,Through the Viewfinder photography ,Underwater photography ,

Now if I have missed anything or anyone I apologize, but the most underlying trend was one of quality and brilliant photography. the reproduction and production of the photographs is in itself an aside, the content and contribution to TP is the most valuable thing.

The photograhpers are just wonderful and:

I congratulate the people or persons responsible and would just say or show this as an example of what this site is growing into.

Well I liked it - even full screen on a 30" 2560x1600 monitor it looked ok - and I particularly enjoyed the way the sun set 3 times or so...

I can't say I shall miss that miserable git vic, it's about time he buggered off. Well done to the mods.

I think the whole thing is great and sad it missed my radar
