Yes
Just after peoples thoughts about the best place to stand for this.

I'm guessing the finish will be packed so I was thinking of standing at one of the corners, perhaps by Westminster Bridge although besides the Tower maybe quieter.

Any ideas?

Phil

Unfortunately I'm busy tomorrow otherwise I'd be there. Having had a look at the route I would definitely go for the Tower as you get two opportunities at each rider depending on where you site yourself, and they will have to slow down a bit with the hairpin. It's also potentially one of the brightest spots (with big trees and tall buildings in other areas).

I've never photographed a time trial, but I was at the Tour de France London stage a few years back and found that any photo opportunities were very brief as they are going very fast and there are motorbikes and support cars very close in front and behind, making long shots almost impossible. I don't know if it'll be the same for this race though:shrug:

I look forward to seeing your results!

Not sure if you'll want to see the results!

Thanks for the reply - I think I'll give the Tower a go. Unfortunately I can't make the main race but I reckon that may be a bit nutty and not much time to get pictures in any event - I probably should have gone to Cheddar for that.

Hi Phil,
If past years are anything to go by they won't have the barriers all around the course, although they will be all around the Westminster/Whitehall/Parliament Sq. area.

Probably if you head down towards the Tower of London (Lower Thames St.) in the past hasn't been barriered although just around the Tower turn has. You can also go up onto London Bridge & shoot down onto the road for a different view & also a pedestrian footbridge over the road a hundred yds further down towards the Tower.

During the TT stage there won't be any motorbikes or cars directly in front of the riders as the Time Trial is a solo effort with pace making not allowed, (apart from team cars right up their riders backside blasting their horns urging the rider on sometimes) although you may get the TV bikes (that's television not transvestite):D off to one side of them.

If you're feeling energetic you could take a little three step alluminium ladder with you to get above the crowds heads down at the Tower where it is barriered then you're not tied to one position all day.

Good luck,

Stew.
