Yes
Rossi, is he a legend or what?
3 weeks after a double fracture he's back on a racing bike, battles in the leading group and finishes fifth after his best practice lap ever at Aragon and he's 38 having won an incredible 9 world championships.
Hell those guys are hard, makes footballers look a bit soft.

I’d also add Sebastian Bourdais having already come back following his crash, headfirst into a wall at over 220mph in qualifying for the Indy500.

Geraint Thomas, rode the Tour with a fractured pelvis, another crash saw him hit a telegraph pole at speed.
Dusted himself off and got going again, need to be tough just to ride the grand tours.

Hey, even I make footballers look soft...
I'll add Barry Sheen and Mike Hailwood to the list - 'Mike the Bike' is said to have raced on at the TT races having not only worn his boot away, but a couple of his toes too !

The bikers are real tough nuts - add Cal Crutchlow to the list with his almost severed index finger and Chaz Davis with a fractured vertebrae !!!!

For inspirational sportsmen and women, look at the Invictus and Paralympic athletes.

In 1986 Pat Cash reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals 3 weeks after having his appendix out. Quite memorable for me because I had my appendix out at almost exactly the same time and I could barely walk after 3 weeks!

In 1956 Bert Trautmann the Manchester City goalkeeper broke his neck during the FA Cup Final but played in until the end of the match.

I remember seeing Michael Rutter sat on the grid at Snetterton after a bad crash the previous day looking a little bit pale. The tv presenter asked him if he was ok after his crash, he said he was fine to race. After the race it came out he had two broken collar bones.
Troy Baylis crashing at Coppice corner,Donington Park and mangling his finger up, at hospital he told them to cut it off so he could race the next day, Noriyuki Haga having to be carried to his bike after breaking his legs Gorge Lorenzo crashed on Friday broke his collarbone, flew home straight awayand had it operated on then flew back to the track to race. These guys are either not right in the head or have access to some pretty good pain medication.

Hutchy breaking his leg after it being run over at Silverstone. That was a long recovery with bone lengthening and now he's had to do it all again this year. Can't even begin to imagine what the pain must be like.

Familiar. :(

Different scale perhaps but Stephen Henry with a fractured arm played in the Crucible and won.

Mick Doohan has to be up there too.

My son had his out, he was back playing for the local football team two weeks later ... And he scored a goal :)

Billy Monger is doing a sponsored walk at Brands Hatch on Saturday to raise funds for the air ambulance that got him to hospital after his crash at Donington earlier in the year.

a friend of mine called Marcus Woodbine was racing at Donington in the Thundersport championship, fell at the old hairpin (highside) and broke his ankle. He refused to take his boot or leathers off for an examination and slept in them because he knew if he did take them off things would flop around below the knee needing medical attention. He raced on the Sunday.

Luke Gale for Castleford tonight
In hospital 2 weeks ago having his appendix out, plays 80mins of car crash RL scores a try and kicks the golden point to win it in tonight's semi final.
Tough on Saints @fabs , but.....Luke Gale = Awsome, and that's from a Wakey fan.

I saw that on our local news & thought of this thread. He was wearing some sort of protective `girdle`, but fair play to him.

Haha, I remember a few years ago that chant; "Wake is Wake, Cas is Cas, stick the merger up your ... "

we call it a bandage in Wakey...:D
srsly though, he might have worn some kind of protection for the wound I dunno, but short of a stainless suit of armour I doubt it offered much of anything in that game.
he was on Look North tonight, the doctor said he couldn't play, 3 weeks minimum recovery from an appendix op, so.........he just played anyway....:ROFLMAO:

Yep, it was almost like it was pre-written. Gutted to lose the game like that but we were never really expected to get as far as that. Cracking game of Rugby League though, hope Cas stuff Leeds next week.

Gutted? Sounds like Mr Gale was!!!

Nah, more like a sticking plaster in Lanky. ;)

Yeah I agree, it wouldn't have helped much against a good shoulder. Probably more to keep his guts in had it popped open.
