Total newbie

Hi people total newbie here not even got a camera as yet been doing lots of research and have got a chance of purchasing a Sony a380 but before I do what do you guys think for a first time camera?

welcome to Talk Photography - I use Sony gear and never have any problems, plenty of after market lenses available too

Cheers les not herd any negatives about Sony as yet but am fully aware canon and Nikon appear to lead the way.
