Can anyone recommend a one-million-candle-power lamping torch that has a focusing beam and may be spare batteries for painting subjects at night?
Thanks

Forget about candle power, it is a totally meaningless measurement, a 60 watt household bulb can give million candle power, look at lumens which is is a far better light measurement. It depends on how much you want to spend, personally I love surefire torches and have a 6p with both a 60 lumen vuld and a 120 lumen bulb, trust me 120 lumens is plenty powerful enough.

Sorry the thread missed my first bit! Thanks Dave, I'll get looking at Amazon/eBay for those!

Just had a quick look, seems the 6p is discontinued but looks like I might be buying a new one the 6px looks like an awesome torch for the money

Yes that's the one, only thing I would say is make sure it's not a copy, they were copied a lot a few years back, not sure if they still are but would have thought they are.

I picked up a 250lumen torch on eBay for a fiver.

Even the Chinese copies are really good quality now. Just take the lumen rating and halve it to get a more accurate copy.

You want lumen as candle power is the measurement of light from the bulb, where as lumen is the measurement of the light reflected back, thus giving a more accurate measure of useful light (its only the light you see that's useful).
