Yes
right guys, i have come up with a plan to gain some awesome head shots for my folio.

My hair dressers is a rather trendy one, i have been thinking of asking them if they would like some shots done of say their models. Im thinking of going down the toni& guy route with the style of the shot. However not to hot on head shots? Ill be using my 2 SB800s with shoot through brollies. And my 50mm.

Any ideas on how to light the shot? I was thinking maybe just one brollie shot through on the center to the side of the face and maybe another bounced off above the models head for hair lighting?

any tips would be fab...

I am going to be doing something similar soon, although natural light and the 580ex11 will be my weapons of choice for what I have in mind - have a look in the Hairdressers Journal for some great shots for inspiration, look forward to seeing the results.

Alot of forward thinking salons have ooodles of natural light as it shows off the hair colour better to the client, also big windows in many salons so try and use this to your advantage, good luck !

Depending which side they have their hair parting have the umbrella on the opposite side. So hair goes to the left umbrella on the right.

Then have the other flash behind the model so that you get a nice rim light on the hair to make it stand out from the background.

Thats my idea anyway ;)

A lot of them use snoots with honeycombs on to get a specific spot of light for the hair.

Matt - we should buy our own studio! haha
would be siiick!

I just use a white wall, sheet or my macro box, depends on what I want to shoot
