tomos outboard help...

The other problem may be the coil (do out board motors have coils? I guess they do)
If the points are not too "thin" close them up and put a piece of folded "wet and dry" (dry)
between them and move it back and forth, as required.
This'll smooth them out and give you a solid surface.
Car maintenance from the 70's at its best :D

First thing - is the plug new ? if not replace it

If that doesn't fix things I'd replace the HT lead next

then progress through in a process of elimination

that said outboards are hateful things - you can guarantee that one will run perfectly when you don't need it to, then cut out and refuse to start when you are drifting towards a weir and only have one paddle on board

incidentally theres not a main dealer for tomos in the uk any more (it used to be seapage but I think they went pop in 2010) , but you can order from the german main dealer here http://www.tomos-aussenborder.de/ - I had one for a bit in my job before last , it was a heap of junk and got scrapped and replaced with a 4hp mercury
