Tokyo - I'm off for 5 days to see a few "old mates" of mine from 20 years ago, plus my daughter is there for a few days

should get two days "birding" in

I'm looking up sites on the internet, but, has anyone any recommendations from personal experience ......... ideally a site with a few hides so that I can get some close shots

I do not really want to travel outside Tokyo as it will be hot and maybe humid?

Thanks Simon

I have found several good recommendations on another site

I was a regular visitor to Tokyo - 6 or 8 times a year for 8 years in the 1980's/90's ........ but never took one photo ........ a chance cropped up to see a few of my "old Japanese" mates so I have jumped at it.

There are two good sites in Tokyo - one a large Park and the other on Tokyo Bay which looks good as I do not want to venture too far from the hotel, (and air con) as I know how hot it can be in August) ........ also the jet lag will not help - if I remember it is 8 hours different in the wrong direction

I'm going in late October - I'd be interested to hear what you find!

Cheers,

Jez.

It might be worth getting an account on the site's forum and asking the same question there.

Unhelpful suggestion: reschedule for the winter months and leave Tokyo, then you can do the monkeys in the snow, Red-crowned Cranes in the snow, Whooper Swans in the snow and Stellar's Sea Eagles on the ice...

Thanks, I got to that thread a few days back.

I just wondered if anyone had "personal experience" of sites in Tokyo that they could relay to make my visits easier. I have asked a Japanese friend to check the two sites suggested in Tokyo so that I can use my time as effectively as possible as I am only there a short time.
