Hi,

I am looking at getting the above to go on my D700 to give me a wide angle option and was wondering if anyone had any experience of this combo, or any other lens that I should be looking at. This seems to get good reviews at this price point. Needs to be around the £500 mark tops and able to take filters.

It will be for my birthday (it has a 0 at the end of it this year !!!!!) and I have asked for money towards this so would probably need to be new as I wont necessarily be purchasing it myself.

Cheers

Nick

Save your money for something else. It is probably the worst Tokina out there - very soft corners. Buy Nikon branded, or buy different focal length

That's interesting as most of the reviews I have looked at seem to put it as a decent lens for the price.

Any suggestions as to what else to consider??

Has anyone got any examples of images from this lens or any other thoughts????

Not used it but the Nikon 16-35 f4 has some great reviews - around £650 second hand so a bit over budget. I had a Tamron 17-35 2.8-4 - it was ok but once you are used to proper nikon glass everything else seems flimsy!

The new nikon 18-35G is excellent, sharp across the frame wide open.

Thanks Simon will keep an eye out but the budget is quite strict at the moment :(

Thanks John - that might just be the one. Will check out the reviews and see what it's like :)
